Not in “Excellent condition” – This is the first time I bought a used computer on Amazon and it will be the last. In the past I have bought laptops on eBay as you can see photos of them. But I thought I would take a chance here, considering the description which claims “Excellent condition” etc, and it has turned out to be more of a crap shoot, a roll of the dice. I will go into the condition of the rest of the laptop and things to know about this model when you get it, after I explain what I am disappointed about. The seller was Global Resale but this could occur with any of them. The list price was $475 which I’m glad I didn’t pay. Instead I paid a Black Friday/Cyber Monday price of $326. There is a label on the shipping box which lists the item name, specs and condition. The condition grade listed on the box was B3. Refurbished electronics are given grades A – D where A is Excellent and B is Good. So right there on the box with not even a grade of B1 but B3 it shows that this item is NOT in the advertised listed Excellent condition!!! I’m going to lodge a complaint with Amazon. The outside of the laptop had visible signs of wear (for example someone put stickers on it which they removed) from several feet away and looked like it was smeared with something. The screen was visibly smeared with something. I’m going to guess they wiped the laptop down inside and out with some kind of fluid which remained on it. I tried cleaning the screen with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaning fluid and that just smeared the gunk around. I had to (very very carefully!) use a mild cleaner to get it off the screen. After that a wipe with the cloth and lens fluid cleaned it up.

Great deal on a very clean renewed laptop – Long story short, my company has an image I need to run and it seems to only run appropriately on our old company standard laptop. The X1 is a very lightweight, high functioning work laptop and I am looking forward to running this company image without further time spent troubleshooting. I’m being deliberately terse to hide my company’s shame. One small hiccup, the Windows 10 Pro install is stating the need to activate. I’ll update my review if that remains an issue.

It works – Corners of this laptop are scuffed and the down arrow key has been replaced. It’s spongy. Storage was upgraded so I’ll keep it.

NOT excellent condition, buyer beware – This was supposed to be ‘excellent condition’ with no visible scratches/blemishes at arm’s length. Immediately visible at more than arm’s length on my product were large air bubbles under the laptop lid coating, along with a nasty glue like substance all over the bottom and side. So should be a clear cut return? No way, still battling to get my money back from ‘Global Resale LLC’ – stay away.

It was brand new. – The ad said 256GB but I got a 500GB SSD. Was also not expecting a touch screen. Great price.

Works as expected – It does not have manuals. The screen was probably changed and was missing the X1 sticker and the camera cover, but everything seems to work.
